Graduate Thesis Environment

By using different art styles one can increase the way people experience emotions from video games. This thesis focused on increasing joy in players based on the art style of video game environments. It looked specifically at the artist Leonid Afremov for inspiration in the way he created art such as his large brush strokes and use of colors and lighting. He is a contemporary artist who paints in a Post-Impressionistic style. From the study it showed that this specific art style used in video game environments do increase the joy in players. This Environment focused on aspects of joy throughout the creation of the scene. This is done by the selection of colors, light, location, etc. This scene focused on low-poly modeling and color materials. Winter 2019-Spring 2019
